George Muller- His Story

Here’s a story I read in a book that I thought was compelling. A story of never giving up and choosing God as the way to go…..

There was a man named George Muller who was a man who didn’t follow God, didn’t even know much of Him. At the age of 14 he would go out and drink at parties and do drugs and stuff. The night his mother died he was out at a party getting drunk. He finally gave it all up and heard about God. This one experience with God made so much compassion in him that he decided to become a missionary. His girlfriend didn’t want him to be a missionary because she wouldn’t take him that way. His father hated him for becoming a missionary and said he would no longer call him his son anymore. He chose God and went to a missionary school. George met a girl who understood him and followed the same beliefs as him. He eventually wed this woman and they went long periods of time without food and water and they would pray to God and He would provide. George met an orphan beggar in a park one time and it made him compassionate for orphans so him and his wife started an orphanage. There was a time when there was no food whatsoever for any of the orphans. He gathered the orphans in prayer and asked God for food and then there was a knock at the door from a guy who had baked two loafs of bread the night before for them. And if that wasn’t enough there was another knock on the door from the milkman whose truck had broken down right in front of the orphanage. He had to give away all the milk or else it would spoil. So not only did God provide for the orphans, He left a little extra for tea later. George died about 100 years ago and his orphanages still are around. Wow!
