So we went to Dallas again this last week and visited a church called Denton Bible Church. It was a pretty traditional church with a great preacher named Tommy Nelson. He did a sermon over judgment and went pretty deep into that but that’s not the important thing. I felt like I had gone back in time to when we went to the 1st Baptist Church of Brazoria. The band consisted of a few stringed instruments, many brass instruments, a harp, and a big choir to back them up. Tommy came up to preach and said lets turn to Mathew chapter 7 and the sound of starchy shirts crunching and thin bible pages turning started to sound. I haven’t heard that sound in a long time.
Brazos Pointe Fellowship could be the total opposite but then again sort of the same. The bands were different. Our band has the guitars, bass, drums, and a few singers. People dress different. No starchy shirts and ties with long khaki pants. No BPF is an athletic shorts and flip flops type of church.
But then all again BPF and Denton Bible Church are completely the same with the same type of purpose… to have a place for Christians and non- Christians to come and learn and draw closer to God or even start a relationship with God. So in a way I couldn’t pick a side of church. Traditional church or Casual church. Two totally different types but both with the same purpose.
